Singaraja –The D3 Midwifery Study Program, Faculty of Medicine, Ganesha Education University (Undiksha) carried out the Taking of the Midwife’s Oath and Pledge to 53 participants on Thursday, 17 November 2022. This event took place in the Seminar Room of the Undiksha Faculty of Medicine Integrated Laboratory Building at 10.30 WITA until finished.
The event began with singing the song Indonesia Raya and continued with reading prayers. Then the main event was carried out, namely the taking of the Midwife’s Oath and Pledge by the Chair of the Bali Province IBI and accompanied by clergy. After completing the midwife’s oath, the oath was signed the pin was symbolically pinned and the IBI shirt was handed over to the graduates. The event continued with the singing of Mars and the IBI Hymn, as well as remarks from the Deputy Dean III of the Faculty of Medicine, Undiksha, Dr. Dr. Made Budiawan, S.Ked., M.Kes., AIFO., as well as remarks and expert lectures by the Chair of IBI Bali Province, Luh Putu Sukarini, S.ST., MM., M.Kes.
Midwife graduates swear or promise that they will use their knowledge honestly and fairly, in line with the midwife profession; will devote themselves to midwifery and health services, without distinction of religion, rank, ethnicity, and nation; will respect human life from conception; will defend the rights and respect clients’ cultural and spiritual traditions; will not tell anyone and keep all secrets related to his duties, unless requested by the court for testimony purposes; will respect, foster cooperation, integrity and solidarity with colleagues, and will maintain dignity and respect the nobility of the profession, by continuously developing oneself to keep up with advances in science and technology.
Taking the midwife’s oath and promise is one of the requirements for graduates to carry out their duties and authority in providing care to clients so that in fulfilling their obligations they can have a commitment as a professional midwife and be responsible for themselves, the profession, and God Almighty.
