Singaraja– The term journal is commonly used in the academic field. A journal can simply be understood as a scientific written work. The journal is written with an academic orientation. A journal is also called a collection of articles in a particular field of science. Journal publications are usually carried out as a team, including writers, editors, layouters, and so on. So, a journal is not a single article or paper written, but a scientific publication in the form of a collection of articles.
Currently, one of the important points in carrying out the function of the Tridharma of Higher Education by lecturers is carrying out research and publishing the results of their thoughts and analysis. The performance of lecturers, which then becomes the performance of departments, faculties, and universities, is greatly influenced by how extensive and quality the publications of their permanent lecturers are.
Publication demands made by the higher education academic community have had a significant impact on lecturers’ awareness of the importance of conducting studies, research, and writing scientific papers. The development of scientific work in Indonesia is relatively improving, especially since the implementation of government regulations, which require undergraduate, master’s and doctoral students to write articles in scientific journals as a prerequisite for graduation. Of course, lecturers are increasingly demanding to actively write in scientific journals, both at the accredited national level and in reputable international journals.
Wednesday, April 27 2022 at the Faculty of Medicine Building Auditorium, Fl. 3 “FK Undiksha Journal Development Workshop 2022” was carried out. The activity, chaired by Ni Nyoman Mestri Agustini, S.Ked., M.Kes., M.Biomed., Sp. N (Coordinator of the Medical Professional Education Study Program), attended by 4 speakers including Prof. Dr. Sri Maliawan SpBS (K). FICS (Bali Medical Journal), Dr. I Wayan Widiana, S.Pd., M.Pd. (Deputy Dean 2 of FIP Undiksha), I Nyoman Laba Jayanta, S.Pd., M.Pd. (Chair of the SI Division of UPT ICT Undiksha) and Gede Aditra Pradnyana, S.Kom., M.Kom. (FTK Undiksha).
Speaker 1, Mr. Dr. I Wayan Widiana, S.Pd., M.Pd. (Deputy Dean 2 of FIP Undiksha) explained how important it is to manage journals. In his presentation, “Managing a journal must be consistent. The design is attractive but the contents of the journal are not interesting, that’s not good.” It is hoped that when managing a journal, it is not only the content that is interesting but the content of the journal that must be prioritized.
Speakers 2 and 3 have the same basics, namely system governance. Mr. I Nyoman Laba Jayanta, S.Pd., M.Pd. (Chair of the SI Division of UPT ICT Undiksha) and Gede Aditra Pradnyana, S.Kom., M.Kom. (FTK Undiksha) this time explained the technicalities of managing journals in the system. The last speaker was Prof. Dr. Dr. Sri Maliawan SpBS (K).
