Open House is something that is commonly held by every Faculty at Ganesha University of Education. So that gave rise to the idea from the Chair of BEM FK to hold the 2019 FK Undiksha Open House in a series with the first ASK FK (Solidarity and Family Action for the Faculty of Medicine). After debate from various parties, the FK Undiksha Open House was held on August 31, 2019.
This FK Open House activity also takes an activity concept that is quite different from the Open House that is commonly found in Singaraja, namely holding sub-activities like lectures at the Faculty of Medicine with the aim of introducing the medical lecture system to the general public. It can be said that this did not go smoothly because of the various obstacles faced by the committee, consisting of 46 FK Undiksha students from the first batch (Neocortex) as the organizing committee and 15 students from FK Undiksha from the second batch (Interstitium) as volunteers who helped the organizing committee in the final minutes of preparation. Open House after passing new student orientation activities.
Open House FK Undiksha also tried something different, namely using an E-Ticketing system for participants to register and register when the Open House was held. After 1.5 months of registration, this Open House activity succeeded in reaching the participant target of 100 participants from all high schools/equivalents in Bali, East Java, and NTT as well as the general public.
The activity begins with participant registration at 08.00 WITA in the Main Lobby of the Undiksha Faculty of Medicine Lecture Building, where participants who have registered will receive an Open House Kit in the form of a tote bag containing an activity guidebook, complete with materials regarding the medical field. will be obtained later along with stationery and participant identification. Next, participants gathered in the Multipurpose Room of the Undiksha Faculty of Medicine to take part in the Lecture. Here participants receive material provision first explained by Dr. Indra Purnomo., S.Ked., M.Kes as a lecturer from the Undiksha Faculty of Medicine. Then, participants will be divided into two large groups and five small groups each consisting of ten people to make it more effective for participants to discuss and receive the material.
The activity continues with Clinical Skill Lab (CSL) in group one and Small Group Discussion (SGD) for group two. In CSL activities, participants will be able to experience practicing as a real doctor, complete with a room designed to resemble a doctor’s practice room in general. OnOpen House In 2019, the participants were taught by lecturers from the Udiksha Medical Faculty to check blood pressure using a blood pressure monitor and check Nervus Akustikus (auditory nerve) using a tuning fork, participants looked very enthusiastic about following it. Meanwhile, group two will attend the SGD session first, which is a discussion activity carried out by small groups regarding a problem topic, and then the Open House This time, participants were invited to discuss the topic of coughs, the mechanism, treatment, and classification of coughs. Here, participants will discuss accompanied by a competent lecturer from the Undiksha Faculty of Medicine, and will also be trained in their knowledge of the health sector.
Next, at 10.55 WITA, participants will be taken on a tour of the Undiksha Medical Faculty Lecture Building, this time participants will be introduced to the rooms in the Undiksha Medical Faculty Lecture Building, including classrooms used during lectures, anatomy laboratory, dry laboratory, and wet laboratory which is usually used for practical work. Then, participants will be invited to rest and enjoy the snacks that have been provided. This time, participants will be given the opportunity to look at the wall media stands made by Undiksha Medical Faculty students class of 2019 to broaden the participants’ knowledge in the field of Medicine while interacting directly and asking questions about studying at the Faculty of Medicine. Apart from that, participants can also take photos at the booth photobooth complete with doctor’s attributes, such as a doctor’s coat and a stethoscope. Then, the activity continued with CSL for group one and SGD for group two. The activities Open House ended with the SGD Panel, which was a session presenting the results of discussions from each group.
Several participants who were interviewed by the organizing committee felt satisfied and happy to take part in the first FK Undiksha Open House because of the unique experience that is rarely found to experience medical lectures which are known to be quite tough by the general public.
The Open House Organizing Committee also did not forget to give rewards to participants who were active in all sub-activities and this reward went to “Made Allan Theja Kurniawan” as the Most Active FK Undiksha Open House participant.
This activity can be carried out because of the support and efforts of all parties, especially the entire organizing committee who have worked hard for the last 7 months to prepare this activity also not forgetting all components of the Undiksha Faculty of Medicine because they have directly monitored and provided input during the preparation of this activity so that the activity This can be done quite smoothly.
No ivory is cracked. A common saying that can describe this activity. It is hoped that next year’s Open House can be a better introductory activity.
