On Tuesday, 27 August 2019, the front yard of the Undiksha Rectorate building was busy with students from the Faculty of Medicine. All 2018 students from the Faculty of Medicine, Ganesha Education University, class of 2018 will take part in a National Seminar on the occasion of National Technology Day with the theme “Preparing Superior Human Resources by Optimizing Teaching Hospitals and Universities in Combating HIV AIDS.”
The participation of Undiksha Medical Faculty students is also an active role in dealing with HIV AIDS which is already widespread in Indonesia. Taking place at the Grand Inna Bali Beach Hotel, this activity presented two speakers, namely Prof. Dr. Ali Ghufron Mukti, M. Sc., Ph. D., and Dr. Baby Jim Aditya, M. Psi., Psychologist.
Prof. Dr. Ali Ghufron Mukti, M. Sc., Ph. D. explained in detail the material regarding “Preparing Health Human Resources for HIV AIDS Research Through AHS (Academic Health System)”. He advised that all medical students must work together with other disciplines regarding existing health problems, in this case, HIV AIDS. He also wants research to be prioritized by researchers in Indonesia so that the funds provided by the government can be used optimally.
Dr. Baby Jim Aditya, M. Psi., Psychologist, as the second speaker, presented material with the theme “Our Vulnerability to HIV AIDS”. With Indonesia being the country with the fastest transmission of HIV AIDS in Asia, awareness of all Indonesian people is needed to avoid free sex and drug abuse.
This is because the HIV virus can be transmitted through fluids in our bodies. Apart from that, the fact that a person infected with the HIV virus will not show significant symptoms until he has developed AIDS is also one of the reasons why he should avoid free sex and drug abuse.
