Singaraja- The Faculty of Medicine, Ganesha University of Education (FK-Undiksha) held a national seminar, Monday (29/11/2021). This event discusses maternal and child health during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Chairman of the Committee, dr. Indra Purnomo, M. Kes., explained that the online seminar was attended by thousands of participants from a number of regions in Indonesia. These participants came from government agencies, universities, and the general public. He explained that the implementation of this activity was a form of support to the government in order to create quality and healthy human resources, as well as a form of implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education. “Mothers and children have a very important role in the development and sustainability of the nation. “Because of that, their health needs attention, especially in the midst of a pandemic,” he explained.
This activity was opened by the Chancellor of Undiksha, Prof. Dr. I Nyoman Jampel, M.Pd. He considered the theme raised to be very good and very appropriate to be held in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, considering that the health of mothers and children is quite susceptible to being disturbed. Apart from that, this activity is to welcome Indonesia’s demographic bonus in 2030. “Therefore, children must be healthy,” he stressed.
It is hoped that this activity can be carried out sustainably and reach a wider community and the topics raised can become more diverse. On that occasion, FK Undiksha was also encouraged to conduct research on health which could later be used as study material by the government in formulating policies and by universities in developing future programs. No less important, the faculty, which was founded in 2018, is also asked to be more aggressive in providing community service, as a form of implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education and Tri Hita Karana in terms of pawongan, namely establishing good relationships between people. “Regarding this topic, it is hoped that FK can carry out research related to the pandemic so that we can understand and provide solutions,” he said.
