Singaraja – Health management is carried out by all components of the Indonesian nation in an integrated and mutually supportive manner to ensure the achievement of the highest level of public health, including the health of women and children. Midwives are one of the front guards in this service. Midwifery services are provided to women throughout their reproductive period which includes pre-pregnancy, pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum; newborn baby; children under five years old, teenagers, and the elderly. The best service is provided by midwives, with the main aim of reducing MMR and IMR. Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) also prioritize its main goals, namely to reduce IMR by 2/3, reduce MMR by 3/4, and increase prevention of the spread of HIV/AIDS.
In 2011, the midwife and shaman partnership program increased from 60.5% in 2010 to 75% in 2011 with the number of shamans reaching 114,290 people throughout Indonesia.
