Singaraja – On Monday, May 22, 2023, the Opening of Maternal and Child Health Management Practices (PM-KIA) was held online today. This event was opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Ganesha Education University (Undiksha), Prof. Dr. M. Ahmad Djojosugito, dr. Sp.OT (K), MHA, MBA as the legality of sending students to practice in the community. At this opening were also present the Village Heads, Heads of Community Health Centers in the Buleleng Regency Area, Clinical Structure(THERE), Clinical Teacher (CT), and 64 semester 6 students. This event aims to create a common perception so that there is no miscommunication between all related parties.
Based on the 2019 Diploma 3 Midwifery Institution Curriculum, students are given the opportunity to take part in a form of Community Midwifery Practice activity which focuses on Maternal and Child Health Management (KIA) in a community setting. This practice is a real implementation of the knowledge, skills, and attitudes that have been learned during lectures into the form of real services to the community by involving community participation, namely promotive, preventive, curative, and rehabilitative activities. MCH management practices in this community have targets, namely individuals, families, special groups, and the community in order to improve public health in general and in particular the health of mothers, babies, and toddlers, as well as family planning.
On this occasion, students were given experience in the community to be able to explore maternal and child health problems at pustu or village health posts. The KIA management trains Undiksha D3 Midwifery students to become midwivescommunicators and community leaders in the community. The targets that must be achieved on this PM-KIA occasion include care for pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum, breastfeeding, babies, toddlers, and preschool children in the community.
The medical faculty of Ganesha University of Education is committed to providing the best education for midwifery students, as evidenced by the learning process this time, students are based on SCL (Student Center Learning) where students play an active role in the teaching and learning process from studying, formulating problems, planning and evaluating the implementation of care. With an active learning process, it is hoped that Undiksha midwifery students will have greater value in providing midwifery care throughout the cycle for women in the community and can contribute positively to the surrounding community.
The opening of PM-KIA is the first step for students to further explore midwifery care in the community with comprehensive guidance so that students become midwives who are competent in midwifery skills and have the attitude (attitude) good so that is in accordance with the vision and mission hitting TRIat Ganesha University of Education.(Red_FK)
