Singaraja – World Science, Environment, and Engineering Competition (WSEEC) is an international science and research innovation competition. This WSEEC event was attended by 305 teams from 22 countries in the world such as Indonesia, Singapore, Japan, Iran, Turkey, England, Canada, the United States and so on which were divided into 7 competition fields, namely Life Science, Environment, Social Science, Technology, Mathematics, Physics, and Energy and Engineering. This time, WSEEC was held in the city of Jakarta, precisely at the University of Indonesia, with the implementation time from 17-20 July 2022.
One of Indonesia’s representatives at the WSEEC event was from the Ganesha University of Education with team leader Kadek Edy Sukarma (Faculty of Medicine) and accompanied by 3 colleagues, namely Kadek Kadek Ulik Permana Putri (Faculty of Medicine), I Gede Agustian Aristhagoza (Faculty of Medicine), and Kartika Nikova (Technical and Vocational Faculty). From the results of the collaboration between the two faculties, Kadek Edy Sukarma’s team created research in the field of Environment entitled “Alternative Water Heater: An Environmentally Friendly Water Heater with Density of Water Concept as Hydrotherapy to Reduce Anxiety in Covid-19 Pandemic”. Alternative Water Heater is an innovative water heating device that is practical and environmentally friendly with the latest concept, namely using the concepts of water density, thermodynamics, and the delivery of solar radiation through focusing light which is useful in making it easier for people to get warm water for bathing so that it can be used as a means of hydrotherapy to relieve anxiety and improve body health during the current Covid-19 pandemic.
From a long struggle and process, Kadek Edy Sukarma’s team succeeded in making Indonesia proud, especially the Ganesha University of Education by obtaining a Silver Medal and the Doza Srekja Macedonia Special Award in the Environmental Sector. The team hopes that the results of their research can be useful for the community in obtaining warm water that is practical and environmentally friendly and will have an impact on increasing the level of public health because the essence of research and science is that it can be useful for many people.
